Cathy Jo Wheeler

Cathy Jo Wheeler’s jewelry has been described as playful, whimsical, funky, and fun. She designs jewelry using dichroic glass and silver clay. Cathy Jo is drawn to bright, rich colors of the dichroic glass, which has a unique character of reflecting an array of different colors depending on the angle of the light and the angle of the view. Her glass jewelry is hand cut from dichroic glass, and the different patterns of glass are fused together in a kiln. She uses sterling wire to wrap each piece which creates a beautiful way to anchor the piece to the ear wire, bracelet or chain.

Cathy Jo also creates unique jewelry from silver, gold and copper wire.  Her most recent designs are made with sterling or fine silver clay, combining her love of working with clay and creating jewelry. These silver pieces sometime include dichroic glass and semi-precious stones. She holds a Level One Certification in Art Clay Silver and teaches Silver Jewelry classes.

A Birmingham native, Cathy Jo graduated from the University of Montevallo with a degree in art. She is past President, Screening Chair and Co-Show Chair of the Bluff Park Art Association. She is also an exhibiting member of the Alabama Craft Guild and Assistant Treasurer.  Cathy Jo has been a member of Artists Incorporated Gallery since 2013.  She became member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer in 2014.
